Torah on One Foot seeks to create beautifully designed, practical reference tools that make Jewish texts easier to understand, navigate, and make part of every day life.

Parsha on One Foot is just the beginning. We look forward to developing more resources that inspire learning, enable Jewish practice, and bring Torah into everyday moments.

About the Founder: Dave Sachs

Trained as a mechanical engineer at the University of Maryland, Dave now works as a licensed Professional Engineer, designing and implementing building retrofits to reduce energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions.

While studying at Yeshivat Hamivtar after college, Dave found himself applying his engineering training to Torah learning: breaking the complex material into its component parts and organizing it in ways that made it easier to understand. Drawing on the reference tables he had used as an engineering student, he created a Gemara “cheat sheet” for himself that soon began circulating among friends in the yeshiva. That project eventually grew into a collaboration with Rabbi Yitzhak Frank and became the Gemara Card, a compact reference guide for Talmud study published by Koren Publishers. Since then, the Gemara Card has become a foundational learning tool in day schools, yeshivot, and seminaries around the world.

Torah on One Foot grew from the same impulse: to create thoughtful, practical tools that make Jewish text and learning easier to understand, navigate, and make part of everyday life.

Dave lives in the Philly suburbs with his wife, three children and their opinionated terrier mix.
